The Battle of Mogadishu: Nobody Left Behind

The Battle of Mogadishu is a story about men in extreme combat, fighting for one another. It began when Task Force Ranger went into the city in October 1993 to capture key members of warlord Mohamed Farah Aidid’s organization. The mission became an intense 15-hour battle to reach American forces trapped inside the city. The men fought through the night and refused to leave anyone behind.

More than three decades later, the Battle of Mogadishu holds a profound place in modern Army history. Here is a look at how the battle has appeared in Soldier of Fortune, told through the stories of those who fought there.

Years back my speaking with a young Army Ranger at the Miami V.A. who was involved in the battle 'Black Hawk Down'. "Tim can you think of anything dumber than getting handed a picture of a Black man and telling us 'go get him' in a sea of a million Black men?"
    Geez no sorry I can't.

I just learned we lost 5 Blackhawks that day. Don't know why I never knew about it until now.

Yes it was a damn mess the whole operation from what the young troop who spoke with me told me. He was on a lite vehicle? with whatever the new machine guns they use now and two other men. The gunner was K.I.A. and he took over the weapon.
Hollyweird showed its usual one element 'Army Rangers' doing the fighting but their were many other troops involved. 10 Mountain Div., U.S. Navy S.E.A.L.s, and more.

The 'Night Stalkers' were doing a lot of the flying. From what I have read they are a bad to the bone group who fly Spec. Ops. types around.
