America's next war could reach US soil, top Army general warns

The American military has largely operated on a familiar premise: combat the enemy overseas before the fight reaches home.
But as drones, cyberattacks and long-range weapons pose growing threats to U.S. military installations and critical infrastructure, Army leaders are preparing for a future in which American forces could come under attack before they ever deploy overseas.
We have met the enemy and he is us.

I recently read about future wars in this military news feed. https://api.army.mil/e2/c/downloads/...rmy-fights.pdf

I also read the monthly Army Echos and a couple other sources. Future wars isnt going to be like anything before.

I'm pleased to see our military planners looking ahead at potential wars nobody thought of. The American military always seems to be preparing to fight the last war we were in. The best example was placing an inordinate amount of training and resources into large heavy division fights when were in the midst of fighting an insurgency in Iraq. Even when I served in Iraq 2007-2008, they were still training us to use claymore mines even though there were none in theater. They're very slow to change.

Any serious attacks on the USA by a foreign country will be met with nuclear destruction of that country. That's why America has stockpiled nukes since 1945.

America? they are crazy, they have a rifle behind every blade of grass. They don't know what guerilla warfare is until a complete neighborhood full of crazy rednecks goes against them.

A dirty nuke or biological weapon, provided by a major power, but used by a useful idiot terrorist group is more likely.

I respect your opinion, but must disagree. You and I are in agreement that Islam (specifically Arab Muslims) are a great threat to our republic, our culture, and our way of life. They are a definite adversary and a threat. Are they winning? No. That's where we disagree. There are some areas they're strong, like Dearborn, Michigan; but not everywhere.

We never want to underestimate the enemy, but it's just as damaging to overestimate the enemy, become discouraged and give up. That's what I see on a lot of online conversations. I don't want that to happen here.

What I saw in Iraq was that Arab Muslims were absolutely horrible soldiers. They were stupid, undisciplined, poorly led, and lazy AF. Yeah... They could plant an IED on a dirt road but that's about it. They weren't that tough as fighters. Actually... they sucked.

The only thing that prevented coalition forces from absolutely crushing the Iraqi insurgency was overly-restrictive rules of engagement at the hands of political leaders who were more afraid of public perceptions than doing the right thing.

In a nutshell. Arab Islamists are only strong if you are intimidated by them. Stand up to them with force and they fold every time. They're much weaker than you think.
