Stumbled into this bottle today. Had one about a year ago purchased in Kentucky. Have not seen it locally until today. Wonderful wonderful stuff. This will make the holidays go down a whole lot easier. 10.jpg
Years ago, my grandmother worked at a high end liquor store. One of the top shelf bourbons they sold was called Ridgewood Reserve. Well, Woodford Reserve decided that Ridgewood's name and bottle was too similar to theirs, so they took them to court. The court ruled in favor of Woodford Reserve and ordered a halt on all sales of Ridgewood. The distributor showed up at my grandmother's store and explained the situation and said he has to remove any remaining bottles of Ridgewood Reserve per court order. My grandmother said, "Oh, we only have three bottles left. Is it really that big of a deal?" He said, "Ma'am, unless you sell those three bottles in the next thirty seconds, I have to take them." My grandmother whipped out her credit card and bought the three remaining bottles. She gave one to me which I still have. I'm not sure if its worth anything or not, but its a cool story so I'll hang onto it for a while.
Booze snobs...all of you. I became acquainted with Jim Beam, fifty plus years ago while in training at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. I do not drink nearly as much as I once did but now and then I tip some into my my morning coffee. Not much. Mostly for the taste. And on!y when I'm home all day. It all just ends up in the pisser anyway. Fucking yuppies.
To each their own. I drank Jack Daniels and Jim Beam in my misguided youth. Don't much care for either one these days. My budget go to whisky is Evan Williams. Don't get me wrong, if you poured me a Jack or Jim I'd drink it. I went through a Blanton phase but you can't get it any more. Same for Old Rip Van Winkle.
Yep, when I was a beginning tippler I drank my share of Jim Beam white label and Jack Daniels black. By no means rotgut whiskey either of them. Their motto could be, "Gets the Job Done".

Oh man I used to love some Sambucca in a cup of joe. I steer clear of the sugary liqueurs these days.
