Trump to sign executive order that makes English the official language

The mandate would mark the first time the US has had an official language at the federal level — and would negate a rule issued by former President Bill Clinton that required federal agencies to have language materials for non-English speakers.

The executive action will now require the agencies or groups that receive government funding to no longer provide assistance in languages other than English.

I thought GW did that, or maybe he was just blowing smoke like so many other things back then?

And that will be what most all countries have being an official language. Excellent and this will also save the taxpayers tens of millions $$. Picture every damn thing you have communicated on a federal or even state level and you will find it had a damn million different languages to use.
Books, tests hell information in Chinese where to find the books and information.
Schools will save the most learn English or go home. Hwy. signs were useful near our borders for driving rules or directions. Everyone else living here? Learn English. 👍

ADD: It really was respect which the people recognized if you were staying in a country for awhile you start to learn their language. Locals respected that and were way way nicer and more helpful to you.
"Allah Yakrub Baytec" Arabic for may God sheet on your home. A Navy SEAL who spoke the language taught us old Nam vets that. 😁

US has not had an official language in the books. First the Spaniards were too lazy to do it, second the brits were too arrogant to do it. Then we got too busy building a country. By the way the US has the second largest Spanish Speaking population in the world, first is Mexico. Being multi-lingual is common in Europe and very good business-wise. I've been able to chew a guy's ass in Italy, ask for directions in Spain and ask for my favorite beer in London.

You have to be able to speak English in order to become a citizen. So all official documents should be in English. If non-citizens want to speak their native gibberish between themselves, let them. But we shouldn't have balcanized areas where people speak their native tongues and demand the rest of the country adapt their language.

English you say? I have trouble understanding some from New Yuck and the deep south. The only cure is to ask them to speak slowly.
