Val Kilmer, ‘Top Gun’ and Batman star with an intense approach, dies at 65

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Val Kilmer, the brooding, versatile actor who played fan favorite Iceman in “Top Gun,” donned a voluminous cape as Batman in “Batman Forever” and portrayed Jim Morrison in “The Doors,” has died. He was 65.

Val Kilmer died from pneumonia. He had recovered after a 2014 throat cancer diagnosis that required two tracheotomies.

I'm your huckleberry, That was one for the history books, as it turned out Huckleberry Finn was his favorite book and he wanted to use the term meaning "I'm your match".

I didn't know that. As a musician, I can say that while Morrison's voice didn't have tremendous range and wasn't operatic; it was very unique and had many nuances that many singers find difficult to replicate. It's kinda like drumming. Some drummers are technical and can play anything with great speed and precision. On the opposite end of the spectrum are those with tremendous feel and timing. The really good ones have both.

The fact that Kilmer could replicate Morrison's voice good enough for a movie is testimony to his level of talent.
