I'm still down a significant bit. That nice bump yesterday helped. Too bad today's drop takes a chunk of it back.

I've made a shit load of $$ over the last 40 years or so in the stock market. It's still the best way to build wealth over the long run, along with buying real estate. Not for the faint of heart though.Comment

Same here. No-load, stock mutual funds and real estate have been my best investments. I actually prefer real estate because when I buy a slice of land as an "investment", I actually use the piece of property. My favorite is actually a 5 acre spot out in the middle of nowhere with an old 1890's rail bed and the foundation of a 1920's homestead. I love it out there. I've camped there a number of times and am thinking about building a deer stand/tiny cabin on the foundation of the homestead.
That's what's cool about real estate: you can use it and it's tangible. Try doing that with a growth stock mutual fund!
The only trouble with my real estate investments is that when I buy them and get them all cleaned up, I don't want to sell them. Not much of an investment.
