This pisses me off big time.

Betty Calamita 60, gunned down by her brother 57.

I've known Betty for 26 years, she became a window with two young kids, cancer killed her husband, she was a fighter, she came to me with her real estate license, we worked together for many years, she always had a smile on and a positive attitude, she left real estate but we always kept in contact and we always helped each other out with legal documents (she was a paralegal) and real estate. She never remarried, kids grew and left the house, her looser of a brother never got a job, wanted to live for free in one of their houses (her dad was a real estate investor and set them up for the future) and had a drug issue. January this year she finally got a court order evicting him. He came back and shot her a couple days ago, I just read it in the news. The guy may have a problem as her husband was part of one NY family you don't want to piss off, he may not last in jail.

She was a beautiful person, I hope he rots in Hell.

It is a shame that many times our worst enemies are in our own families.

    My condolences.

I could understand anything else, people die every day but her brother killing her? They caught him in Louisiana somewhere and will be extradited back to Miami.

Deeply sorry to hear about the murder of your friend, Fred. These are the times we're living in.

Terrible news! It's so sad when good people are destroyed and the evil ones live on. Sorry for what your having to go through and your personal pain of this lost friend.

Sounds like she was allowing the brother to live in a house temporarily, but the guy wanted to make it permanent. What a terrible situation to have to deal with. You try to help someone out and they take advantage of you. Family can be bad, but "friends" can do it too. This is one of the most extreme examples of this I've ever heard.

I'm glad they caught the guy. At least we can take some comfort that he'll never see the light of day. Guys like this are the ones I'd like to see live out the rest of their lives in an El Salvadoran maximum security prison.

And to compound the problem her mother had a stroke last year and relied on her for everything. At least she had her daughter named as a trustee covering all properties. And of course the local news are making this a case about gun violence. That guy needed an adjustment long ago but they allowed him to keep going like this.

This guy should have been dealt with long time ago. She and her mom were afraid of him, I remember one time right after the mom got the stroke and was still at the hospital she asked me if I could go to the hospital to notarize her mom's signature adding a property to the estate and when I got there she turned me back saying, my brother is there, I don't want you to be there when he is there. She was a good friend.
