NIce couple at the island yesterday riding bikes by the front of the house while I was getting my golf cart picked up to be returned (that's another story) and the wife's bike needed air..so they asked if I had a pump..."No, but I have an air compressor" so they came inside, long story sort my wife had to drive her to her house to get a pump with a special fitting but in the meantime I'm chatting with the husband, they are a bit younger than we are, early 60's and realizing they are Jewish folks from Connecticut I assumed they were democrats and eventually he asked me how felt about the political situation..."Well, I tell you, I'm a Constitutional Nationalist, I place America First and everybody else can line up and take a number"....Guy looked up and said "I get you". no more political talk.
I just described myself as a Constitutional Nationalist.

"Constitutional Nationalist?" I'll have to borrow that title for future use.
The last uncomfortable political discussion I had was this Fall. I volunteered to set up large election banners for a candidate (and personal friend of mine) here in Michigan. One day I had pulled off to the side of the road trying to figure out which parcel of land I was supposed to set up a banner. An elderly gentleman, pulled over introduced himself and was able to precisely tell me where each parcel was and who owned it. I thanked him profusely.
Then out of the blue, he starts talking about the upcoming 2024 presidential election. He turned out to be a die hard Trump hater and wanted to know exactly where I stood. Very awkward. I told him I supported Trump. His demeanor became aggressive and argumentative, citing all sort of Leftist BS. For the most part, I just shut up and let him rant while I set up the banner.
Had I been equally aggressive, our conversation could have easily escalated into a full fledged roadside shouting match or worse. Kind of a stupid move on his part. What sort of person tries to provoke an argument with random a stranger on the side of the road?Comment

Not on that island. Very patriotic folks there with a very active veteran's association who every year start off the Fourth of July Parade presenting the colors, followed by a military Jeep with a Ma Duce mounted on the side.Sometimes I wish I had a Harry Potter's wand and make people go up into smoke.👍 1Comment
