What is the big argument over real ID

I've had the real ID star on my drivers license for several years. And it wasnt difficult getting it.

I'm renewing my license next month. I'll probably get it even though I'll probably never use it. I'll probably get the enhanced handgun permit too, since Nebraska only honors the enhanced version of the Tennessee permit and I often drive through Nebraska on road trips.

      never at…

No sense making it easy on them

Snake what is the 'enhanced' pistol permit?? If you accidentally left yours at home and the police pull you over they give you a pistol to use?

I think its just the Real ID version of the handgun permit. Here, in TN, your gun permit is a form of state issued ID. You can use it to buy alcohol, vote, anything that requires you to show ID. It even has the same ID number as my driver's license.

It's been in the works for what, 20 years? Plenty of time to get it done...... , or not. I've heard all the complaints, mark of the beast, you name it. "They" know everything about all of us already. Push come shove it will be time to shove back. Another cut in the death by a thousand cuts.

No small wonder it comes to a head now. Makes it easier to blame on Trump, like everything else.

I think it verifies that you are a USA citizen, as least down here they require either a US passport, birth certificate of citizenship certificate before you get the Real ID. I had the old license and decided to get it renewed ahead of time because of it in case I needed to get on a plane somewhere.

I just renewed my driver's license this morning to the Real ID. My license was up for renewal anyway, so why not get the star? I got there 30 minutes before they opened and it still took me four hours due to so many people waiting until the last minute to get the Real ID.

I got real ID by showing them my passport and 2 utility bills.

I got pulled over in Arkansas in Feb, had no DL because I misplaced it at the doctor's office, so I showed my passport. No problem. No ticket.

Identification is a state issue, not federal. The feds sticking their nose where it doesn't belong is the main sticking point for me, and the reason for no star on my license.

I think I showed my military ID, my birth certificate and gas bill.

It was made a much bigger deal of in the news than it turned out to be in real life. I had a receipt from the bureau of vital statistics from my state of birth saying they had my birth certificate without crayon marks or goofy numbers where they keep them. I didn’t have to pay the bureaucrats four hundred miles away to show papers to the bureaucrats four miles away because I kept my proof of certificate from when I registered for selective service.
