Luxury yacht sinks off the coast of Miami.....

A multimillion-dollar luxury yacht left 32 passengers stranded after it started taking on water off the coast of Miami Beach. There were no reported injuries.

A $4M Lamborghini yacht started to sink off of the coast of Miami. The yacht was full of "influencers". I hate that word. When the Coast Guard arrived at the sinking yacht, everyone on board was taking selfies. Had I been in charge of that Coast Guard ship, and I saw the "influencers" were taking selfies as their ship was sinking, I would have turned my ship around and left them to sink. How narcissistic does one have to be that if on a sinking ship, the first thing that comes to mind is to take selfies to post to social media?

No mention of who owns it. Many times overloaded and not everyone wearing a life vest. Yeah, I'd take my time pulling people off, those without a life vest first, then tell the others we'll be back to get more once we unload these on shore. Might be a while.

By what I read someplace else, it is a demonstration vessel, not for sale in the US and it belongs to the Italian company that manufacturers it. 4.7M sitting in the Miami Intercoastal Waterway...literally. I hope that dealer has good insurance.

Aviator, I meant to pick your brain on this story. This happened in your neck of the woods, at least I think Miami is your neck of the woods. So I'm curious as to what is being reported there.

I am in Miami yes. It's been all over the news here. There is a sandbar just west of Halouver Beach inlet right in the middle of the intercoastal that is famous for parties and people drinking, having fun and, folks just drop anchor and jump off, they have food selling boats that come along and sell, floating BBQ grills and all sort of crap, there are just too many people with boats around here and many of them have no experience handling one. My younger son has a 32 footer but he just took it to his place in the Florida Keys, it's center console open fisherman style boat, he like to go after big fish, he did take a coast guard course, I took one too a milion years ago when I had a smaller boat. Now I don't want boats, or airplanes or headaches.

Yup Fred I bet the farm that was an insurance sinking. Translate? Take out a huge insurance policy on the yacht knowing damn well yah can't make the payments on it and ????? Sink it... 😁
My small 15 footer center console which was great for the river fishing here I just gave to a buddy. Sold the motor but the boat was going to be $$ to fix the rear transom was going out. The guy who got it repairs boats so he could do it cheap. Sold the motor separately.
Thinking about getting another boat? But like the old boat story goes. 'Best day you will ever have on your new boat? The day you frigging sell it.' 😁

Yes sir, the two happiest days in the life of a boat owner...the day you buy it and the day you sell it. Son is going on his fourth boat already, first he had a 19 footer single engine, then a 32 footer twin, but after he had it all equipped some guy offered him more money than what he had in it so he let it go, took the money and bought a 28 footer twin, fixed it all up too, then this 32' Contender came along and he loved it, 435K he paid (freaking crazy) and he asked me if I wanted to keep the 28' "NO, but if you need a place to park it, I have plenty of room in the island" He wound up selling it to a contractor friend of his.
