Well, he is not worshiped as a god, he is looked upon as the head of the Catholic church, just like a president of a country, or better yet, a King, as he and the country he rules get money from everywhere and own property all over the world. Religion has become a big business, a lot of people are willing to pay a lot to "go to heaven" and a lot of big names are capitalizing on it starting with the Vatican. I've been there, I've seen their museum...just a handful of their paintings could eliminate world hunger.

No he does not, like any other man of the cloth his job is to lead people to follow Jesus, Moses, Budah, whichever you prefer, not to tell them he has control over them when they die, however, many televangelists and even some local ministers I have had the displeasure of meeting in my life in the course of doing business do take control of the weak minded and suck their savings and everything else out of them while still alive.
