    OBD2 Code Readrer

I am going to replace my old Craftsman scanner. It cost a lot back when I bought it but I don't want to spend a lot now because I hope that I will rarely use it. I mainly need it for my daughters and G-kids cars.

Anyhow I am looking at this HF model: https://www.harborfreight.com/zr11s-...abs-57665.html

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

I got a (I think) $30 reader from AutoZone. It doesn't do anything but give you the code. But today, that's all you need. You don't need to pay extra for it to give you all the details, all you need is the code. Once you get the code, pull out your phone, open Google, and enter the code and get all your information.

It depends on how much you want it to do, I reckon. You can get readers that pair with the Bluetooth on your smart phone for a lot less. I do like to be able to clear the code without having to disconnect the battery and wait 15 minutes.

That should do what you need.

I got a $29 from Amazon that gives you the codes and some general information, then use the internet to find out more.

I use the Torque app on my phone with a bluetooth adapter for anything but Toyota. For Toyota I have Techstream on a laptop.

I have an Autel. It's been a good one.
