Massive ship carrying 3,000 cars sinks in international waters

According to the Coast Guard, the ship carried 1,530 metric tons of very low-sulfur fuel oil, along with 350 tons of marine gas oil. Additionally, it was transporting 3,048 vehicles, including 70 electric and 681 hybrid.
The Liberian-flagged Morning Midas, which was headed to Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico, from China, experienced a fire on June 3. As USA TODAY previously reported, 22 crew members abandoned the ship after they failed to put out the fire.

Something about electric cars and salt water that don't mix very well. I told my son, in case of hurricane that electric golf cart gets tied under a coconut tree away from the house.

Geez I wonder if it was one of those electric cars that caught fire and sank that ship? Were a golf cart community here. My buddy needs new batteries for his rig and he is forking over just under a thousand $$ for them. He doesn't care he saved that in gas.. 😉

I could but the city is a pain in the ass as far as permits, Got plenty of land to do it though. For now I keep it in the under-the-house parking area. The salesman insured me the battery is in a sealed container and water can't get in, he also said never open the container, let us do it.

they are expensive, the lead type are about a thousand, like the one RTO has, the one I have is a bit more but it has like 8 year warranty.

If it was, that wouldn't be the first time I've heard of an EV catching fire on a ship, and causing the ship to deliver its cargo to Davey Jones' locker.

Salt water and lithium-ion batteries are a recipe for a fire.
