Engineers, watch out: Ai just built a working rocket in 2 weeks

Now, we just need a warp drive...

AI designed a fully functional rocket engine in 2 weeks, had it 3D printed, and nailed the test fire on the first try. No meetings. No delays. No 6-month Gantt charts. Leap 71 let the algorithm cook - and it delivered a freakishly effective, weird-looking engine that would’ve taken humans months to even prototype. AI is moving at warp speed. Blink, and you’re obsolete.

Big deal. Once upon a time I decided to get into the model rocket scene, and I don’t mean to brag but my first rocket, on it’s first launch, probably made low orbit. Not too sure, because it instantly disappeared into the sky.

Turns out when you buy some little rocket kit, you should probably use the supplied rocket fuel things. What you should not do is go to the hobby store and say “give me the most powerful rocket motor you have!”

After the employee asked what size rocket I had he tried in vain to explain that the motors are tailored for different weight and lengths of rockets, and my little 12” rocket wasn’t suitable for the most powerful units made. I, of course, was not going to be tricked by his deceptive tactics. He was clearly trying to keep me out of the cool rocket pilot club, and I was having none of it.

Upon launch we caught a glimpse of that thing disappearing into the clouds. It was a blur, mostly you could only track the huge flame shooting out it’s ass end. Never saw it again. For all I know it bounced off the space station.

I've cut loose a few I thought for sure would either send me into orbit or erupt in an explosion that would make Hiroshima look like a fire cracker. I guess we're not talking about farts though......

I remember in my Handbook of Model Rocketry "anyone who clusters F engines is a fool"....now they have more powerful engines 😊

Yea, I remember something about letters indicating thrust, A through F? Then there was another rating for length of burn or time under thrust?

Every letter step up is 2x, for example, B motors have 2x the total impulse of A engines. The first # is average impulse in Newtons. There's no code for burn time. The 2nd # in the code is delay in seconds for the ejection charge

See, we don’t need AI to figure out rocket flights!

😀 if you believe the "woke" BS the only reason we reached the moon is because of some mulatto mathematician wimmen

My brother is a real rocket scientist...I'd be afraid to ask for help.
