Around here DATA centers for apple face book etc eat up a major share of electricity and they are building more! Plus an influx of sheeple. The other concern here is WATER. Between the Data centers, influx of sheeple, golf courses and breweries, where is the water coming from?

Where is the water coming from? Rain, snow melt, aquafer containment. Ask Lake Mead how their doing? Los Angeles and the farmers are sucking it literally bone dry.

Sorry LA sorry farmers sorry developers that's all she wrote. Projections within a couple of years their will be NO RUNOFF from the lake. The lake is about to become a 'Dead Pool' and their is going to be some mighty thirsty people.
We get ours from the aquafer south Fla. gets theirs from lake Okeechobee. So far o.k. but keep developing? Whoops that's all she wrote.

Not my highest one ever, but up there for my small place. High heat and humidity is normal here in the summer. This year seems to be a little worse, but I don't pay much attention to the talking heads speaking of climate disaster.
Was higher years ago when I had an older small ac unit and an above ground pool.

My window a/c burned up this summer, but it was 14 or so years old & was about time to replace it. The power bill for that month was the highest ever in almost 40 years of living here. The bill was $120, so with the newer unit that I installed the day after the old one died, my bill might be the same or slightly lower as the new unit is more efficient & used less power.

The new unit cools faster & stays off longer than the old one & the house temps stay about 78-79degrees with 45% humidity. If Clay Electric is going to add to the rates, more charges, my bills will not be cheap anymore.

Speaking of rising costs, every time I think I'm going to get ahead a little bit, someone else grabs it. For instance, the voters passed a law increasing the Veteran's property tax valuation from -$2,000 to -$10,000 which dropped my property tax. Just found out my homeowner's insurance is going up by.......the same amount my tax bill dropped. Bastards.

Those mini splits are great they had them all over the Orient years ago when I was their. Think they were all coming out of Japan initially? They will freeze you out.

If this A.C. goes out I am going with the mini splits.. 2 1/2 to 3 ton new units installed here are between $8 and $10,000 now. Frig that the mini splits are kick ass so goodbye central air.

For those of you with mini-splits, if you ever have an issue with the evaporator coil icing up, it is most likely due to refrigerant loss The link below is an example of a kit you can order to re-charge your system. You can do the same with your residential condenser unit as well. My neighbor installed a mini-split and did not make one connection tight, and lost all his charge. we bought a recharge kit of 410a 5lb bottle and was able to recharge the system using the supplied gage kit. Took about 15 minutes to get it dialed in....even a caveman can do it.

Just paid $4500 for a Rheem 3.5 Ton at daughter's house. Son just put a Trane in 3.5 ton for $7000 at his house. labor included.

One of the many nice things about living in Michigan is not needing to run the AC much... until this Summer. In the 25 years or so since we've been up here, we've used AC more than ever. Just recently, things have cooled off. Sure is nice to sleep with the windows open. Neither my wife nor I have a particular love for AC. It's a necessary evil and we much prefer the fresh air.
