I was told, but my problem is astigmatism and may be a bit of the cloudiness. I remember my mother had it done, they just shoot it with a laser and clean it up.
If you give them a big grin when they take your picture, it messes with the facial recognition software. But, it will also get you extra attention if you go to the airport because their machine can't match you up in their database.
