Back around 2012, about 10% of the Michigan State University student body was Chinese. I worked there for about 2 years. All were from wealthy families. None of them wanted to go back to China. The university charged them hefty tuition fees and were happy for the money.

It wasn't necessarily a terrible thing having them here. Most were just goofy college kids who were thrilled to be away from China. Some of these folks may some day rise to the top and become a catalyst for change.
