This is interesting. I didn't know the guy who invented the MRE pork in bbq sauce also invented the McRib for McDonald's.

I don't remember a Pork In BBQ Sauce MRE. I do remember a BBQ Pork and Rice MRE. That was one of my favorites. I had a lot of favorites, and a lot of not-favorites (I'm talking to you, Omelet with Ham).
I remember my very first MRE in boot camp at Parris Island. It was Tuna with Noodles. I absolutely despised tuna fish. I knew I couldn't eat this thing without throwing up. But I couldn't exactly raise my hand and say "Sir, this recruit doesn't like tuna. Can this recruit get another MRE?" I'd be eating Tuna MREs for the rest of boot camp. So I managed to score some extra salt packets and tabasco sauce from other recruits. I think I added maybe four salt packets and four or five tabascos. That killed every bit of tuna taste, it was the only way I could eat it.Comment
