On August 5, 2026, Judge James Wesley Hendrix of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas entered final judgment and a permanent injunction in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF, No. 6:25-CV-056 (consolidated with Jensen v. ATF). In its Memorandum Opinion and Order, the court held that specified provisions of the National Firearms Act (NFA) could no longer be sustained under the Taxing Clause or Congress’ other enumerated powers with respect to categories of NFA-regulated firearms – including suppressors – for which Congress reduced the federal transfer and making taxes to zero in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The court initially stayed the judgment for seven days from August 5, 2026, to permit the federal government to seek appellate relief. That stay expired at the end of the day on August 12.

This was just the first paragraph. Perhaps one of our more legality knowledgeable members can put what this means in short laymen terms? The advertisement from US Palms concerning suppressors mentioned no Form 4, in other words buy on the spot and take home same day.

I just read that 4 dealers have had audits & the suppressor that went out on a 4473 were not questioned during the audit.

I guess I am getting old and slow and was never to bright to start with. But? You want to get totally confused go out to buy a suppressor and try to follow the rules and forms and this and that and your picture size and and and? WTF over. Not sure if this relates to Retvet post but I recently had a conversation with an FFL in his shop.
If I as an non FFL license holder wants to purchase a gun or i guess? a suppressor and orders direct from the factory like I just did on a new CMMG Banshee .45. So as per the law I had to have it shipped to a local FFL where we did the paperwork paid the transfer fee and then I picked up the weapon. I had already paid in full to CMMG for the weapon.
Now I guess????? what their doing or want to do is for me to have ordered and paid for the weapon and instead of shipping to an FFL for a transfer have the selling company do the paperwork 'form 4473' and ship direct to my address?? Reason being I guess is why are we doing the transfer twice creating twice the work when the selling company could just do it??
boon somebody what the hell is going on with purchasing these frigging suppressors and what is up with what I am talking about here. HELP please?

ADD: Oh and why all the legal cloak and dagger B.S. in buying a freaking device that just quiets down a loud annoying gun shot? Now I am seeing adds for these 'gas filters' that just by chance have the same thread sizes as some weapons we may own. I wonder if anyone?? is just using them for suppressors.??? Would people really actually do that instead of going through a mile of govt. paperwork??
