Marathon Florida, three houses down from the Atlantic Ocean on a canal, needs a new dock and boat lift also a bit of updating but it’s a foreclosure and we got it for almost half of what comparable properties are

He’s got a 28 footer twin outboard and pays about 1K a month to keep it at a marina that’s about one hour away from his house, he can use that money to pay for insurance in this place, my mortgage company is trying to get his financing. He’s in love with the location.

Been working for two days on renewing my home insurance.
aviator and our Fla. members can tell yah it is getting virtually un-affordable owning a home here. Insurance companies are packing up and leaving Fla. and not planning on coming back.
I just renewed my homeowners through Lloyds of London they were the only ones I could afford. Tired now I will explain tomorrow.

              15k/yr insurance sounds cheap.
Insurance companies (the ones that stayed) are crushing us over here.
I've felt many times that I was being insured right out of my house.
Nice looking location. Hope your son enjoys it, I know I would

I stopped paying insurance a while back and put all that money in the bank , I’m self insured now., got the houses ready to withstand a hurricane and hope they don’t catch fire. Liability, hell you get hurt in my house you just get buried in the backyard.

4th some folks are lucky, my neighbor still has USA at an affordable price her husband was a Navy officer, my wife’s cousin lost her house with hurricane Andrew bought another one and still has the same company for a couple thousand dollars, but the rest of us got screwed, I used to have Travelers back in the day, about $500 a year, they left , last quote I had in my house was about $7K, 6K for the house my son lives in and $5K for my daughters house, now put $18k in the bank for 10-20 years and you have enough to replace all three roofs plus money left over.

Your ins. company might not have stayed? Foremost my company has not written claims in Fla. in over 2 years and are not psychically in Fla. anymore. My new insurer 'Lloyds of London' well its in London. Do you have Lloyds? You might and don't know it.
Ins. coverage for us Fla. folks is drying up fast. Great Lakes ins. company my new insurer partnered with Lloyds for my policy. Foremost wanted $2,350 and Great Lakes I got for $443. Now more to the story.
I literally went the aviator route and just got coverage for the $5,700 mortgage I have. Guys you ONLY have to insure any leans you have on your home nothing else. I saw this same scenario while working for the ski industry. Ins. got so expensive only one that would pick up a policy? Lloyds. Lloyds got so expensive the ski industry went the aviator route. Self insured.
I don't blame the insurance companies hell who wants a business that is doomed to failure? Yup sorry for the bad news Fla. brothers but soon your insurance, if you keep it is going to cost more than your house.

ADD: Interesting read on Lloyds if your interested. One of the oldest insurers in the world.

                    Lloyd's of London - Wikipedia

Lloyds a mix of corporations and gamblers.

Some major issues popped up in the title and we may not be able to close, trying to get seller to settle with the city, got lawyers involved, if not, let contract expire, we negotiate with the city and then go back and make an offer accordingly and if that fails, another house just popped in the market in the same block.
