    Thanks! ,,I watched both videos and think mine may be ammo selection ,,I have some cheap crap like Tula or something like that ,,I'll look into this and see what I come up with

      After ignoring the M38 for 18 years and “accepting” it was a POS wartime production of something one step above a musket I took the bolt apart and Helen Kellered all the mating surfaces. They were smooth as glass I was pleasantly/unpleasantly surprised as this left only the spring. I cut half a coil off it and now this one flows like goose shit. I really did not want to cut that spring because every issue I’ve ever had with a firearm itself was spring related. The non-spring related issues were me.

      While testing the bolt I found out that holding the rifle vertically in the left hand while using the stripper clip (pushing down with thumb w/o lifting the front of the top cartridge) radically improved the performance of the stripper clips.
