    Savage Axis XP

Bought an Axis XP today after considering getting the Tisas 1911. Son said it’s no fun hunting unless I have a rifle to hunt with him.

Its in 350 legend so a bit Leary about it, given the mixed reviews on the cartridge.

But it was less than $300 on sale so not a big loss if it’s junk😂

350 Leg basically exists to give hunters who like the AR15 a cartridge that meets the straight wall requirements for some game regs. It uses the same bolt face and bolt carrier as a 556, even works with the standard mags, so you can either barrel swap or upper swap on an existing platform (if you have one).

I'm at a bit of a loss as to why you would want it in a bolt action? Are you in a straight wall restriction state?

Unfortunately I’m stuck in a straight wall state. I grew up shooting AK’s, mini 14’s and M-14’s. For whatever reason I never cared for the AR 15, I have one but never use it.

That makes sense then. If you hand load you can get a lot more out of that cartridge. Because it’s designed for the AR15 platform the pressure is kept lower. If it’s for a dedicated bolt gun you can safely load it hotter or heavier.
