That would be a good trade. The ammo availability is there with the European companies.
The Enfield has an annoying tendency for the stock to crack just above the trigger if it doesn’t have a reinforcing stud through it at that point. One of the first things omitted in wartime production. My 1918 and 1941 Ishapore SMLE did not have them. The 1918 was sporterized so ruined anyway stock wise. The 1941 was quick to crack above the trigger.
One piece stocks are immune to this problem.
If the K31 has a matching bayonet get on it like stink on shit.
I have strippers for mine and they are smooth as Fonzie’s pick up lines. If you can’t find originals C&Rsenal has some ancient videos about somebody making plastic ones. I have the wrong bayonet (older version) but it has the Swiss Cross on the leather frog, the guard and on the ball at the end of the metal sheath as well as on the sling and receiver. It’s perfect for Saracens.
I like ugly guns and airplanes but the K31 is like that old Harley Davidson slogan, “Put your ass on some Class.” You’ll never look back at the plug ugly Enfield and think, “Maybe I shoulda kept that.” It will be like going from Ellen to Sydney. If that even begins to capture the upgrade. You might have to imagine something more vile than Ellen once you’ve upgraded. I’d do it.
Mine was issued to a heavy flak battery crew member stationed in Geneva according to the tag under the butt plate. Had it for almost twenty years, never tried to contact the former holder, sure he’s dead now. The good news is the soldier tag is almost certainly only a historical artifact now and not a breadcrumb to hunt down a ninety something hot chocolate quaffing yodeler like the Swiss Rifle forums used to treat them.
The K31 is a work of art. The Enfield is a modern art accomplishment. The Mosin is the retarded SOB that failed to get into the modern art academy and was thrown out of the trailer park in which the modern art academy was housed with its baloney on white bread ass.
