    New Grill...Beer Brats

My tabletop pellet grill bit the dust. Replaced it with this bad boy. The PID controller is way more precise then my old algorithm controller. Today...beer brats. Johnsonville brats and hot italians. First some smoke while the onions and butter get acquianted. Then into the beer bath and finally a little
    sear.

Those look good! I wish I could figure out how the German street vendors cooked their bratwursts. They came out so tasty. Had so be something in their coals - and I'm thinking it was probably real coal instead of charcoal. Probably unhealthy as hell, as most good tasting foods are.

Usingers is good shit. I grew up in Milwaukee where they are made. Mader's German restaurant is right across the street from Usingers on Old World 3rd St. downtown.

I never tried this technique for grilling brats. Looks delicious. I might try it some time. Also, that's one bad ass grill you have.

If you're from Wisconsin this is the only way you cook brats lol. The main thing is don't boil them just a gentle simmer and when you sear, take care not to split open the casing. There is argument over sear then soak or soak then sear. Either way works as long as your internal rises to 165. Some of those onions and a squirt of horseradish mustard and I'm in heaven.

The smoker is really great so far. I just threw it in a harbor freight cart for ease of moving.
Ships free UPS had it in 2 days.
The Freedom Portable Pellet Grill Operates on 12V DC and 120V AC. 165°F - 500°F+ w/Sear Mode. Dual Meat Probes, 8.5lb Fuel Hopper, Peaked Lid. SALE!

20261025_184549.jpg My grilling style is pretty simple: hardwood coals in different sized Webber grills. Half the fun is making the fire. Your brat technique is definitely doable even in my bare bones configuration.

I built this grill shack in the Spring and decorated it with artifacts I dug up on my property while cleaning up an old glass dump.20261025_184549.jpg

Oh thats a great cook shack. I've done beer brats on a Weber many times. Works perfectly with a 2 zone set up. I started on a Weber decades ago and have never been without one.
