I thought the Fury was loosely based on Laffeyette Pool of the 3rd Armored division,,his nickname was War Daddy and was once knocked out of 2 or 3 tanks in 1 day,,quite a story to read up on if you haven't. There are so many heroic actions that happened during WW2 you could probably make 6 dozen movies on less than 1/2 of them

Thanks Boris I will look that one up. The link I put up shows the original 'Fury' tank pictures from WWII. Hollyweird had them dying in battle at the end but it appears they all lived. I understand Hollyweird has to take some liberties to make the movie interesting. Like the movie 'Saving Private Ryan' that was and actual incident from WWII but was taken way out of context.
The Sullivan brothers deaths started the no two family members serving in a battle zone without signed waivers.

ADD: They called the Sherman tanks 'Ronsons' from the cigarette lighters as when hit they lit up like a lighter.

Thank yah Boris I for sure will read that. I am up and down all night and hit all kinds of sites on this picture talking machine. Our family home in Connecticut our parents or one parent had to be a veteran to purchase in the neighborhood. Loaded with WWII vets from all branches of the service. Quite a crew but as a kid I thought this was normal stuff when Harry's bar down the beach used to be church for 1/2 of them.. Damn good men all hard workers and beer drinkers.
We got to play Army in the school yard with all the guns they brought back. The good old days in America.
