The real Fury from WWII that the movie was based on.
I thought the Fury was loosely based on Laffeyette Pool of the 3rd Armored division,,his nickname was War Daddy and was once knocked out of 2 or 3 tanks in 1 day,,quite a story to read up on if you haven't. There are so many heroic actions that happened during WW2 you could probably make 6 dozen movies on less than 1/2 of them

Thanks Boris I will look that one up. The link I put up shows the original 'Fury' tank pictures from WWII. Hollyweird had them dying in battle at the end but it appears they all lived. I understand Hollyweird has to take some liberties to make the movie interesting. Like the movie 'Saving Private Ryan' that was and actual incident from WWII but was taken way out of context.
The Sullivan brothers deaths started the no two family members serving in a battle zone without signed waivers.
ADD: They called the Sherman tanks 'Ronsons' from the cigarette lighters as when hit they lit up like a lighter.
How many kills did War Daddy have?
Using three separate tanks (as they were eventually all knocked out of action) he totaled up 12 enemy tank kills, 258 total armored vehicles and anti tank guns destroyed, over 1000 enemy soldiers killed, and 250 prisoners taken.
Who was the crew of the Lafayette G pool?
He kept the same crew throughout the majority of the war. Corporal Wilbert "Red" Richards was the driver, Private First Class Bertrand "School Boy" Close the assistant driver and bow gunner, Corporal Willis "Ground Hog" Oller the gunner, and Technician Fifth Grade Delbert "Jailbird" Boggs the loader.
Is Fury based on a true story?
AI Overview dataurl387306.jpg
No, the movie Fury is not based on one single true story, but it is a fictional narrative inspired by real events and people from World War II. The film draws on the experiences of many WWII tank crews, particularly the harrowing conditions and high casualty rates of American tankers, as well as being inspired by a legendary tank commander, Lafayette G. “War Daddy” Pool. The director, David Ayer, was also inspired by his family's military history, including his grandfather who flew missions in the war.
I had a cousin in the 3rd Armored division (36AIR) and I ran across Pools story researching 3rd Armored history, the link I postedis a great read if you're interested

Thank yah Boris I for sure will read that. I am up and down all night and hit all kinds of sites on this picture talking machine. Our family home in Connecticut our parents or one parent had to be a veteran to purchase in the neighborhood. Loaded with WWII vets from all branches of the service. Quite a crew but as a kid I thought this was normal stuff when Harry's bar down the beach used to be church for 1/2 of them.. Damn good men all hard workers and beer drinkers.
We got to play Army in the school yard with all the guns they brought back. The good old days in America.
