    Back from Cardiologist

Things sound good inside, however, given that my surgery was a year ago he ordered a battery of tests: Stress Test, Nuclear test, echo, and making me wear a monitor for three days to make sure everything is good. I battled with him over one medication that's not really working out for me, I was ready to debate him in technical terms, he had to agree and took it off my list, it's the second time I do this with him, first time was a blood thinner, he wanted me on it and I refused, I quoted what the American Board of Cardiologists say, plus the fact I have a biological valve and a Watchman installed in my heart to prevent clots...."Oh yeah, that's right". One Aspirin a day is enough for me. Metoprolol messes you up big time, I got that off today. Freaking med is a Lipophilic drug that attaches to the fat in the blood, travels through your brain and has a lot of side effects. Old doctor got a lecture on it today. I'm alive and that's good, caught it before a heart attack.

Glad that you had a good checkup. Did you take your blood pressure meds before going since the docs sure seem to rile you up.

I was taking two, one in the morning and one at night, now it's just going to be the night one. I feel weak, I lose my balance easily, I go up the steps at the Sanibel place carrying something and I'm short of breath, I tried to plant some Plumerias my daughter brought me back from Hawaii and I had to place a beach chair dig the hole and plant them then sit down every time. As I understand that metoprolol does that, it did it to my sister in law and she had to get off it, somebody who works with my son in law also had the same problem. Freaking meds will mess you up, I tell you.

The more of those things you can get off of, the better off you'll be. There are natural alternatives for everything.

Metoprolol a Lipophilic beta blocker. I had to teach him what lipophilic meant and how it worked and why I wanted off. He's got 50 years of experience, he's a good guy but he doesn't know it all. I do my own research all the time.

Fred keep this thought in mind. Drs. get kick backs $$ from the pharm. companies for giving you and me their meds. A guy from Boston worked part time with us in the ski area. He was a salesman for some big pharm. company. He flat out told me he has a bag of cash in his trunk at all times to hand to Drs. $$ according to the amount of his companies pills he gave out to us.
Ever wonder why your new Dr. says 'oh you don't want those take these.?' Not all Drs. do this now but that money is mighty enticing.

Keep eating all that cholesterol and you will have one very soon. I don't want anyone to go through the damned surgery I had, It's been a year, I'm not 100% yet.

They tell you to stay away from small children, but I think the isotope half life is about six hours, so it dissipates within a day or so.

Reading your posts I have been reading more on the meds the V.A. is giving me. One med 'Lisinopril' for high blood pressure? Holy sheeet every frigging article I read said do NOT take it. That went in the trash. Metropolil I think its spelled? the V.A. took us all off that. Lot of damn drugs out their are doing more harm than good.

Metoprolol...that's the one I was taking. A long list of side effects, not everyone gets them, but I know four people who were taking them and had to get off, real bad vivid dreams, shortness of breath, dizziness, lack of strength, and some other shit. You can't stop cold turkey unless they switch you to something else, tell the Dr you need to get off. My brother has been taking it for several years and he's OK with it, his wife had to get off it, they both have A-Fib and Metoprolol keeps your heart beats down.

A hokey nurse practitioner prescribed that Lisinopril for me and told me to quit taking some other stuff the hospital had me on after my black widow bite and subsequent high blood pressure incident - no heart attack, all the tests came back good with some normal blockage for a man my age. I read up on that stuff before I took any of it and I came to the same conclusion - no way, was I going to put that crap in my body! It was designed for heart attack victims and I in no way had any sign of an heart attack.
