They're sending "junk silver" coins to the smelters, now. Numinastic values are going to go higher than melt value as those old coins become more rare. Most of my silver dollars are over 100 yrs old.

I thought it was illegal to deface (melt down) U.S. currency. Is that no longer the case, or do people just not care anymore. That's what was keeping penny hoarders from melting down their copper pennies to get the 3 to 4 cents worth of copper from their 1 cent coin.

Now, if I could only find an honest buyer for some of my silver dollars. Yeah, I understand they have to make something, but they don't have to make everything off me.

I have a 10 oz bar as a conversation piece, not for sale unless it hits really, really high.

I also have a 10 oz bar. I love that thing. I bought it from JM Bullion in 2015 for around $185 (that includes shipping). Now the same bar at JM Bullion is $1162 plus shipping.

Better lock that thing up or it may go the way of your knives.

I have posted this before but the problem with "investing" in physical silver and gold is you buy for spot but no one will pay spot when you sell. If you are lucky you will get 50% of spot from gold and silver dealers. Pawn shops less. I used to have quite a bit of it and I was only able to make some money on it because my rich cousin wanted it.

No one will buy at spot price but you can shop around, also condition has to do with it.

Plata o plomo "Silver or Lead"
Why is everyone buying gold and silver? A million different reasons have been given. My .02 for what its worth? The frigging dollar is going to collapse so I am buying all the 'LEAD" I can afford.

ADD: Been to the store lately? When a loaf of bread is costing me a few cents short of $4.00 dollars and I leave the store with 4 small bags for $100? I be buying lead..

I'm not concerned about "lead" now, I have enough to last me for as long as I have to live. In case a real catastrophic event my neighbors and I developed a plan to take over the neighborhood Publix. then we go fishing. There is a canal two blocks away and I have seen monster bass swimming there, I mean three feet long. Alligators and iguanas are edible too. Make your own bread, it's cheaper.
