I purchased my current F350 in 2018. Its in excellent condition and runs great. The standard cab size no longer works for me. I expect, henceforth, transporting a wheel chair with me. The Ford Super cab is what I need now as the whole side of the truck opens up. That along with all the electronic hub locking and transfer case mode selection are now needful things. My present truck is all an manual 4x4 which I prefer...but ...squatting down to lock the hubs is no longer an option.
I have given hard thought to the 430hp gasoline 7.3 SOHC engine vs the 470hp diesel. I mostly, nowadays, make only realitivly short hops...out to eat or to a store.....and then home again. If you don't allow an oil burner to warm up WELL...it fucks them up. Routine maintenance is also more costly as the fuel filters $$$ must be changed when the oil is changed $$$. If I lived out on the Texas plains I would go for the Diesel. The 7.3 gas engine will pull anything I hitch it to. Gotta have the 8' bed also. The dealership up the road has made a generous offer to purchase my 2014 truck. Damn trucks are fucking expensive these days. So looks like in the next week or so...its going to be " new truck smell." I decided to go with the "Race Red" color. I have no desire for a white or silver one. I would snag another dually...but they don't seem to offer one with a Supercab..only the crew cab or the standard cab. I really like the 20" wheels and the 400 watt, 110 volt plug. Piss on the dual alternators and batteries. The 250 watt alt is just fine. The super cab. Has enough room to fuck in the backseat and the front seats recline. I like all the " fuck I'm lazy" options. A tailgate that locks from inside the cab. Wow! Power back window with a defroster. The 360° camera system looks to.make trailer hook ups real easy.
A brush guard will give me a place to hang my KC Daylighters and the sprayed in bed liner looks righteous. All the F250's seem to have 6'beds and crew cabs. Not what I'm looking for. I've always been a fan of the open knuckle front axel, as there are no CV boots for a stick to rip open when crossing a field. Yes I've seen that happen.
Ahhhhh. New truck smell. Ford is offering some favorable financing rates on the shorter term loans 36&48 months. You can't take it with you. Might as well have fun now. I just relocated my large "Jurassic Park" decals for the doors.
