Looks like Old Man Winter is making a play after all

It's 0500 and the outside air temperature is -24. I've been running back and forth to the chicken coop all night checking on the heaters and the birds. Moments ago it was 11 degrees in the coop with just a small propane heater going. I lit a couple candles and an oil lamp and will check again in an hour. I didn't anticipate this level of cold. This Summer, I'll make a few improvements in the coop to handle colder weather.

As I'm typing this the power just went out. It's gonna be a busy day.

Good one! I used to have a guy that worked for me that we nicknamed him Scrat. He looked like him and acted goofy but he was a good tech.

It was -23 F for me yesterday morning and after eating my breakfast I went to rinse the plate in the sink and no hot water the pipe had froze up in the wall. Luckily it didn't take long to get it thawed out and the pipe didn't burst.

We're waiting for some sleet/snow/ice here on central NC. I'm running between my house and Mom's house keeping fires going in the wood stoves just in case.
