Here in North Florida, Monday was a smidge of rain with a bit of wind. Power went out @ 13:00 & was back on by 15:30 to stay on. Temps were 36 degrees Tuesday morning going up to 60 degrees in the afternooon.

The system must have blown itself out by the time it got here. What I would call a blessing.

I went to G'ville early this morning for a CT scan and to see my gastro Doc to see if my cancer had returned. It hadn't.

If you have to get a gas tank installed to run the Generac make sure you keep it full, my brother has one, it was half way full and a hurricane approached, he called the gas company and was told they were not going to make it..."But you don't understand, I have a Generac installed"...."Sir, you and about five thousand other people who called before you did".

I would run my Generac off an LPG tank. Fuck gas or diesel.

I have about 10 different ways to make sure I get my coffee every morning, and about 5 different types of camp stoves that guarantee I will have hot water - from little wood burning hiking stoves to butane/propane camp stoves to Coleman white gas stoves. I can make my coffee with a big or little percolator, a Aeropress French press, or, just good old-fashioned Cowboy coffee. If things get really bad, I even have some freeze-dried instant coffee crystals. I WILL NOT GO WITHOUT my brew.

first day no power I made an alcohol burner out of a dog food can, put it inside the kitchen sink and made water boil.. I always keep a gallon of the stuff around and I'm better prepared now but that Andrew back in '92 caught everyone off guard down here.

It was 28 degrees here this morning & the coffee pot was awaiting being loaded up for the anticipation of a steaming cup of coffee. If the power was out, I would take the percolator out to the Deuce with a solar powered inverter/battery bank in the workshop in the back & brew up a pot of coffee & maybe cook up a few eggs & bacon.

It's quiet, efficient & there when I need it. I can even put a cot in it & run the heater off the battery bank if I decide to. Being without it is not an option.

For some reason we rarely ever lose power in my AO. Weather has been crazy as of late but that's March for you in the northern Midwest. Snow on the ground right now but it's melting and the sun is out. Earlier this week it was in the low 70's and felt like Summer. Flowers coming up and my Elm trees are spewing pollen all over the place.

This has been the hardest winter I can remember. A couple weeks ago, we had a blast of warm weather and most of the snow melted. Good thing I didn't put the snow thrower away. I've used it twice since.

Around here, there's a lot of coyote hatred. Not me. Even though we have chickens and let them run, the coyotes steer clear of the coop. They're very elusive and I rarely see one. When I do, I just leave them alone. Besides; they look too much like dogs to shoot.

One of my caregivers today told me that her power lines and internet's wires were still down across her long driveway and she has to park @ 1/4 mile away at a neighbor's house. I said to "just drive over them fuck it." She said they were about 2' off the ground. That new power poles were installed and the broken ones cut up and removed.... But still no power etc. She has a wood burner and I told her to take some from my fire wood stash.

Unseasonably hot here. Assholes five miles south burning stubble FUBARED the air. Red flag (don’t burn shit asshole) warnings being ignored like drunk driving out here in Inbredsville. Choked on stubble smoke last two nights. If season appropriate temperatures return we are diddled. If the heat stays we went from winter to summer in two hours again (which we already did four or five times in the last two months).

We had a shit summer and fall so the undeserved warm winter was appreciated by me and apparently the farmers.

If the summer is like the winter a lot of seniors will fall to the heat. We had three years worth of rain last year.
