Everybody has a bit of Apnea. I remember a doctor I went to see over 20 years ago at the request of my wife "You haven't had a check up in over 50 years blah blah" and the first thing the guy asks me is "do you snore at night?..."well yeah, doesn't everybody? I'm middle age, overweight and smoke a pipe, of course"...let me send you to get a sleep apnea test...."no you don't"...but you're going to die...."so are you doctor, everybody dies". Long story short, he's gone, I'm still here.

Apnea seems to be the latest fad among doctors. I'm healthy and normal weight. A couple years ago my VA doctor had me tested because I mentioned that I snore sometimes. It turned out to be a lot of fuss for no good reason. I'm the last person you want to ask for medical advice, but I wouldn't bother with apnea testing unless you have serious symptoms.

One's spouse will let them know if they regularly snore and need to see a doc about it.

I don't snore because I am a light sleeper, when I sleep, and I'd wake myself up.

I’m convinced the doctors get a kickback for every sleep ap machine they sell. Everything indicates sleep apnea according to the doctors who sell it.

            me too.

My wife switched to my doctor, the guy is easy going and dances to my tune, so once in a while I take some sweet pastries to the staff and I always get what I need, theey know my daughter is a Nurse Practitioner so they don't play around with me , anyhow she mentioned to him that I snore...."Tell him to come and see me, lets get a test done"....

I too am unbothered by my snoring. My wife, on the other hand, has several complaints about my snoring. I've tried to explain to her that she's clearly either having bad dreams or she's lying. After all, if it was that loud, how could I sleep through it?

I volunteer for a local youth group. This evening a mom mentioned that her son was considering joining the high school football team. I enthusiastically encouraged the move. The kid is smart, articulate and honest. Unfortunately... He's obese. I told her that the ONLY thing he needs to work on is getting in shape. He's got all the other bases covered.

The kid is a HS sophomore. He's interested in a career in law enforcement or the military. I'm definitely talking up the Army but told him to ultimately pursue the path that YOU want; not me.

Bottom line. He needs to lose 50 pounds or he's done. No career. No chicks. No future.

Sleep apnea...what a scam. I had the study several years ago before I lost weight. Results showed "mild" apnea. Got a CPAP. No way I could sleep with that contraption on. Apnea went away with some weight loss.
