    Any Comcast/Xfinity customers here?

They are not telling the people what's going on but they are switching to wireless boxes for TV viewing so you have to have Wi-FI at home, if you start experiencing issues with your picture, just order a tech to come. I have spent a few weeks fighting with them on the phone, with the Indians, Mexicans, Colombian and people from every country except the US (you cannot reach anyone in the US) trying to solve the problem, the picture was pixalating, real bad, so bad you couldn't watch a complete show so I requested a technician to come, he told me what was going on, replaced my boxes and problem solved, but they don't have enough boxes to go around so they are keeping it kind of quiet.

If you want to switch over to Starlink, let me know and I'll give you a code that will give us both a free month.

I don't have any box. I have my own modem and router and dont have any of their video packages. I have Netflix, Hulu, and Paramount. I also have an antenna for state and local news.

Dropped Comcast some time ago. I haven't even had cable TV in years. Cable TV is a dying medium.

If it wasn't for my wife I would not have cable TV either, But if she doesn't get the channels she's been watching for 40+ years she'll have a breakdown, I only have internet at the island house and use firestick to get TV, it's always a problem with her so I rather pay for the service and not have to deal with it.

One of the happiest days in recent memory was firing Xfinity. Tmobile 5G. Less than half the cost, zero downside. Comcast hates their customers and got away with it for years by being a monopoly. They can burn in hell.

The whole cable TV industry is crashing, Billions of dollars spent on infrastructure succumbing to Internet service. I can watch channels from almost every country on my computer like they are local channels.

well, I anticipate wi-fi will be all over like radio waves, provided by the government and controlled by it at "no charge" but your taxes will be higher to cover the cost, TV stations will cease to exist and reporters are just going to be regular folks out there with a phone-like equipment hooked up to the network, no more phone lines, no more cables, everybody knows where everybody is.

Let's see we have seen the end of film movies and photography (for the most part), first portable phones were in a brief case with a very large battery and a handset and a button to call an operator to patch your call through, I used one once. Then came the cell system and Motorola with their brick phone...yeah I had one. All you could do was call someone. Look at it now...Star Trek Communicator has been dwarfed by the new ones. Video tape came along and so did 4 track and 8 track, then VCR's, cassette recorders, all obsolete now, withing 30 years. First computer I ever used was a dumb terminal hooked up to a phone modem and no screen, just a printer, write your own program to make it do what you want, now AI does it all for you and all those tapes of memories we used in large systems can be contained in a small one inch squared flat chip. I remember writing a program in a keypunch card writer and then taking them to the card reader (ever heard the term Batch Processing) to process the batch of cards and get a printout of my program in Fortran language. I used to have a repair place fixing electronics, video cameras were large pieces of equipment with vidicon tubes and a lot of electronics, then they went to solid state sensors, still pretty large pieces of equipment and low quality image, now they are incorporated into your "communicator" phone with autofocus, auto white balance, and studio type quality. Remember having to call an operator to place a call across the country and having to pay a few dollars for the service? Now your new "communicator" allows you to call someone across the world instantaneous and perfect sound, like talking to your next door neighbor, I talk to folks all over, Spain, Italy, Australia. Need an alarm clock?...I used to have one on my night stand, now my "communicator " wakes me up and reminds me when I need to do something and reminds me of my anniversary too, it lets me buy stuff too without going to the store and the next day it gets delivered, sometimes the same day. My communicator tells me when the landscaping folks arrived at my other place 150 miles away and I can see them working, it also tells me if I have a water leak in the house and some gizmo hooked up to the network lets me turn the water off from 150 miles away. I can control my air conditioners too and know when my laundry is done. I have this "personal assistant" on my desk, ask any question and I get an answer, ask to do numbers for me and it will do it, it still declines to make me coffee though.

What will the future bring us? you say? We've done and accomplished all that in 30-40 years. I don't know but I sure would like to come back for a day and look around in forty more years,

I'm really happy with their internet here and at the island. Download is about 700Mbps, upload about 150 in both places, I do not use their modem for wifi though, I turned the wifi off and feed the signal into an eero and that feeds four others around the house, also use my own switcher for the computers and printer in my network.

I trashed my TV many years ago & the hurricane @ the time blew it off the deck & destroyed it. No more problem, no more bills, no more poor programming.

My landline/internet over a 40 year period went from $25 a month to $195 a month by increasing the prices every year hoping nobody paid attention. I haven't used my landline in over 15 years, but still had to pay for it in order to have internet.

This past week, after trying to have the landline removed with no success, the account was closed & the bill is now $0.
