    Anyone here of Greek Descent?

Our nephew is marrying a girl whose parents are Greek, she's a nurse, he is a cop, nice girl, her father wants to take my brother in law out in his boat the weekend before the wedding to the Bahamas to go fishing so the fish will be the food at the wedding reception "Because that's what I did at my wedding". Is that a Greek thing or the guy is just weird? I've heard he has a really big boat. Just let me know when they start throwing plates around and yelling Opa....Opa...that's time to leave then.

Greeks are OK and they're party animals.

The freaking wedding lasts three days, first day a get together party, second day the ceremony by the beach, then drive a few miles to some restaurant to eat ...fish...third day at some sandbar in the keys that you need a boat to get to. I don't really know all the details but we're just going to be there the middle day, that night I am not driving back to Miami, so we will stay at my son's house in the FL Keys, he should be done with the house within a month or so. Did anyone watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"?

All that water gives lots of opportunities to Fredo a fool.

Saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding but can’t remember anything except, “I have three balls”, and “Nice tits.”

In the smatasses’ defense they were nice.

I've known a few Greeks. Like them. They like good food and booze. And they get behind their women if you catch my drift.

If you are hungry and see a Greek diner or restaurant STOP because if a Greek serves bad food? They are taken out back of the joint by fellow Greeks and beat to death. The Greeks love food and good cooking.
My former boss and good friend lives with his Greek girlfriend who is my good friend and she is friends with Pres. Trump. I posted the story of her and her Republican girlfriends who started a PT support club in S. Florida. PT pre election motorcade on his way to a gathering saw them with signs on the side of the road yelling screaming and waving.
He got one of his SS agents to go back and get their tele numbers. So his office called and invited them all to lunch at Mara Lago. They went got a private tour and lunch with PT leading and I have picts of the visit. Now her little 'Greek girls Republican club' get invites to all PTs political events. PT remembers their names and goes out of his way to go over and say hi and hug his Greek girls.
I got to get a camera to post all the damn picts. I have.

My little brother's first wife was half Greek. She had a fiery temper (tried to stab him with a kitchen knife. He pinned her to the wall and disarmed her and when he let her go, she called the cops and he got arrested and did 90 days), and got knocked up by some other dude and let him think it was his kid for 2 years until he divorced her. But, damn, that girl could cook!

One of my cousins married a girl from that area (Mediterranean someplace). They generally think American weddings are boring and reserved. To them weddings are a big, festive, and boisterous event. If every plate hasn't been smashed, a few tables broken, and you set the place on fire, they will assume you aren't too excited about getting their little girl as a new part of your family.

They are getting married after their girl is born in a few months, at least they are getting married, she is cute and my nephew is a chick magnet and a cop, he'll screw anything with a hole so I hope they make it to the wedding. They had a baby shower the other day, wife and daughter attended and said the family is very, very Greek, not much English spoken by the previous generation so I expect the wedding to be interesting.

I've heard Turkish coffee is like mud. Cuban coffee and Espresso are pretty much the same, as a matter of facts, places selling Cuban coffee here use Italian Espresso machines, it actually has less caffeine than regular coffee because it's roasted more, but it has a lot of sugar and that foam on top. There is also the Italian Moka coffee, it's what they drink for breakfast and what must cubans use for making coffee

                            I use an espresso machine:

I wanted to try a Cuban coffee when I was in Florida, but forgot to look for any. I did shop at a Bravo grocery store and liked the variety there. There were a bunch of Cuban women working the bakery in the back all shouting at each other. I recognized their language as Cuban, because it's a lot faster than the border mexican I'm used to, but not as fast as Puerto Rican spanish.
