Oh shit! my neighbor just had his second knee done, they used glue. Maybe your surgeon was out of glue.

Man, all I remember is my wife on my right side gave me a kiss and my youngest son grabbed my hand and said see ya pop......next I know someone says "Breath, breath" and pulled the tube out, that was 24 hours later...then the fun began.

Pretty sure the anesthesiologists are some of the highest paid in the medical field? I made the mistake of hitting YouTube on how they put those tubes down your throat when your getting ready for an operation. A plastic tube goes down your trachea with a balloon on the end of it. They have to stop right where the pipes split to each lung then they expand the balloon.
Then they give you enough narcotics to literally stop your breathing and they then pump 02 in to breath for yah. They have to place it just right and that is where the BIG $$ comes in. I fell in love with my Dr. after the 3rd time she worked on me. She is my buddy I asked her to move into the swamp here with me and she said her husband might get pissed off. 😁

I told my daughter to specialize on anesthesia for her nurse practitioner degree, she said the liability is too big but they do make a lot of money.

Liability that evil word in the medical world. That is why we see Drs. grouping up and starting a clinic with several of them together. Insurance got so high they could not afford it alone.
Plus that's why we see some damn good Drs. 'surgeons' working at the V.A. as it is literally a waste of time trying to sue them for mistakes. The V.A. covers them and your not suing the Dr. your suing the govt.. Most all attorney's wont take a case involving the V.A.. Hell even in the rare case you win the V.A. takes about 20 years to pay. If they even pay at all..

I have a couple skin staplers in my preps. They aren't that expensive. Practice with them on pigskin to get the feel for how they work. Better than stitches, but I have some suture kits, too.
