About 20 years ago I damaged the sciatic nerve in my left leg/back lifting sheets of 3/4" plywood. It took a long time (months) for it to heal and since I have taken care of how I lift or move anything. Last Friday I was adding a small bulkhead to the end of one of my French drains in my yard and damaged the sciatic nerve in my right leg/back. I didn't twist or do anything strenuous that I remember, I knew something was wrong when my right quad had a spasm and seized with pain I went to the VA doc on Monday and was prescribed Baclofen a muscle relaxer to help with the pain. The VA overnighted it to me so I started taking it yesterday and it helped a lot.
Today it isn't working as well for some reason which sucks because of the pain and I have an appointment tomorrow morning with an eye surgeon for a pre-op meeting for cataract surgery coming up in August. I can not take NSAIDs for pain relief because of the damage done to my liver from cancer. This sucks.
So fellas don't strain either your sciatic nerves especially when you're 75 years old.
