My highest electric bill in 24 yrs. living here.

    Current Bill Amount $217.00
Next Auto Pay Due Date September 3, 2025

Temps. have been running in the high 90s for the last month or so.. One day a 'feels like temp' of 117 degs. Kind of like breathing in a freaking oven. My bill usually runs around 70+ to low 80s.

It's been hot Buddy. Our electric bill is $233. this month. It is the highest we've had in a long time. At least we get a decent credit in the Spring.

Did you see the notice Clay Elect. sent us last month that their going up a bit $ on their KWH price?? They said everyone is using more power so their cost is going up. More power o.k. but seems every damn one is jumping on the inflation bandwagon. The inflation wheel keeps rolling. Thank you Federal Reserve.. Wheelbarrow 2.webp

lucky guys. I just paid over $400- for the miami house and close to $300 for the beach house which we use on the weekends and not all of them. Unless we are there I keep the temp at 77º and here it's 76º during the day, 72º at night, pool heater has been off but the pump still runs, AC's don't stop much during the day.

I saw that. Sure people are using more electricity this time of year but all of the new housing developments are requiring more electricity from Clay electric.

I expect everything in south Flarda to be more expensive. It's a good thing that you are a real estate mogul.

It’s supposedly the third hottest year in recorded history with one and two being since 2020.

It has rained here by August 1st as much as it usually rains in a year.

If I were to tragically have a head-on collision with a mountain of money I’d start living in the desert at least during winter.

Mine has been high all summer for no reason I can see. No a/c (don't need it), hardly a light on most nights as we go to bed early. Frig, freezer, and a pair of small dehumidifiers is about it.

Yup Fred my A.C. starts really pumping about 08:00 and goes all day till about 19:00. I had it serviced about 3 months ago and I am glad I did.

Up here in the "cooler" climate of NW Michigan, it's usually not so bad in the Summer. On a typical Summer, we normally run the AC only about 2 weeks out of the year. The rest of the time, it cools off at night. We run fans at night, close the windows and curtains in the morning and by dinner time, the house is still nice an cool.

This Summer has been warmer than in the past. We ran the AC a lot more; maybe 3-4 weeks. Tonight, we have a bit of respite and are once again using fans pushing in that cool night air.

No place is perfect. While we tend to have beautiful Summers and epic Falls; there are problems. Winters are often miserable. In the warmer months, biting insects are a constant annoyance. Like anywhere else, we just deal with it. For insects, a bandanna worn under the hat to cover the back of the neck, usually does the trick as long as you keep moving. As for the cold, we normally keep our house on the cooler side and dress in layers. After a while you just get used to it.

you may need a bigger unit. I run a 5 ton unit at home but my house has too many windows. 3.5 ton at the island.

My little window unit, combined with ceiling fans, cools the entire house. Guess I'm just lucky that way.

Maybe prices will go down when demand goes down?
