When my grandparents and my dad came from Germany, they refused speaking German in their house. We are Americans and will only speak english around every where. That is the problem I see in most new comers to the USA, they want to continue their past and not learn their new home. Their allegiance is to the place they came from and not here. So they can take a flying leap back to where they came from.

Being able to speak Spanish down here is a plus, even my lawyer, a French born Jewish guy learned Spanish, My daughter got her job as an OR nurse because she spoke Spanish and was able to communicate with patients, my middle son never spoke much Spanish until he started his business and the oldest one can also do fairly well, he just got interviewed last week on a SpanishTV network and I mean he got the point across, not perfect but good enough. My grandchildren don't understand Spanish though. It's always been my believe that the original language gets lost by the third generation. English is one of the easiest languages to learn and speak. I'm trying to get my Italian up to date by using Artificial Intelligence and having conversations with a computer.
