I would swear I once saw a video of some mechanical device that loaded rounds into links.

There is a press type of device that is manufactured to press 10 or so rounds into 10 links with each cycle. They are ammo caliber specific so you need one for each caliber of ammo & type of link being loaded. These devices are about $500.00 each, so that gets real expensive if you have the need for more than one caliber/link of ammo to load.
My 1919a4 links are a bitch to put together by hand in either .308 or 30.06 caliber, so that would be the only machine I would need if all my linking wasn't done years ago.Comment

My M249 has 2 spare barrels & the newest M240 only has one barrel & no spare, so I found a seller who had a decent deal on full length new M240 barrels for less than what FN or Ohio Ordinance sells them for. Used barrels could be had for $150 less, but for the price difference, I bought new. The new barrel is military issue & is the exact one that FN makes for several hundred dollars less, so I bought it to go along with the original barrel & a T&E device to mount the gun on a M2 tripod.
These guns would have been a blast 20 years ago, but shooting them then would have depleted my ammo funds @ too high of a rate. Now, being retired, its blast away time.Comment
