Your right Pogo they run around 350 lbs small by N. American standards. I am getting really good at bouncing beer bottles off their frigging heads when their in my garbage. 90% run 10%? That's all you got? We have more bears here than people in this small swamp town. New Jersey is have a real problem with them.
I just watched a documentary with so called experts speaking on why were seeing more black bear attacks. Appears like all big critters out their they are really territorial. As humans infringe into their territory they naturally are getting protective and attacks are getting more frequent. That and idiots feeding them.
Noise is your best friend to avoid any problems with them. Make noise when your in bear country like around here you don't want to be quiet and walk up on one.
