none of us are. I used to do a lot of things before my heart surgery that I cannot do now. Told the doctor and he said.."yeah, you are also 70 years old, get used to it".

Back around 2012, I needed to lose some weight and I got serious about it. I got into running. Started doing 5K's, and 10K's. I was making pretty good progress. In the spring of 2016, I ran my first half marathon (13.1 miles). My time was 1 hour, 49 minutes, and some seconds. Pretty damn good for a first half marathon. Then I took a hiatus due to me moving back to my parents, leaving my job, and finding another job. Due to all that, I put some weight back on. I decided to start running again. After a few three-mile runs, I was doing another three-mile run and about a mile in, I felt a significant "pop" in my left knee. I hobbled back home and rested. Luckily, there was no severe damage. It was more like my body telling me "Dude, stop this running shit." It made me think back to my early running days where I'd talk to serious running addicts, guys in their 60s, who all had bad knees. So I hung up my running shoes. I got more into cycling and rucking, but alas, life got in the way and I fell from grace. I'm trying to get back into cardio training, but I think I need to get off of the midnight shift work and go back to working days.

If man was meant to run, God would not have given us ranged weapons.

Running is tough for the body unless you are a lightweight. Want a good exercise? get a rowing machine. It works everything on your body. I just got back to mine with doctors authorization.

On Monday of this week, I got to catch up on some much needed sleep. I slept for about twelve hours. I must have had my arms in an awkward position, because when I woke up, I had a really sore muscle from my right ear, down my neck, to my right shoulder. Six days later, its still there. Its pretty bad when someone asks, "How'd you hurt your shoulder?" And my response is, "Sleeping."

You slept? how lucky you are.

Got to bed at 2300 hr. wife wakes up 2400, she's got a backache so she is going to another bedroom with a bed that goes up and down (we have four bedrooms and only the two of us left, so she wakes me up, then in 30 minutes I need to go pee, so it takes a while for me to go back to sleep but then my dog starts walking from one bedroom to the next so she can be with both of us...click, click click on the wooden floor all night long until 0400 hr when she got hungry and starts trying to get me up, mind you she won't eat until 0530, 3/4 of a can of diabetic food and seven units of insulin, by this time my wife had come back to our bedroom so dog starts "soft barking", I ignored her, she grew impatient and went full blast, I get mad, grabbed a shirt and smacked her ass, threw her out of the bedroom and locked the door, my back is in pain, my chest hurts like crazy from the heart surgery, I want to go take a piss, but I'm afraid the dog will start barking.....shit, I can't hold it anymore, I go take a piss, dog hears me, she starts barking again....I lost it. I was about to kill the bitch, so I figured...go feed her, give her the insulin shot ......well I can't fall sleep again, meanwhile dog goes back to her bed and falls sleep, wife slept until 0900 an I'm sitting here checking for latest posts in The Bunker.. And that repeats about six times a week...and you bitch about not getting enough sleep? Want to trade places?

Well, back on topic.....I got my glasses yesterday. Holy crap, what a difference. I should have had my eyes checked a few years ago, but better late than never I guess. When I put my glasses on, I feel like I have super powers for how much better I can see. The glasses I got are really a cheap beater pair for work. But since I liked the result, I put in an order for a more fancy shmancy pair for outside of work, a pair of Oakley's. Oakley's because I guess I'm now a glasses guy so I might as well ride in style. But really, guys, if you're in your 40s, start getting annual eye exams. You might find that you're like Pogo and have perfect vision throughout your life. Or you might find out that you're like me, you think you're like Pogo because you had great vision most of your life but that might not be the case. Eye exams are cheap (cheaper or free if you have vision coverage), keep an eye on your vision (no pun intended).
