I have only represented a client in ONE SS disability case. Like yours it was approved without going to a judge. SS just mailed me a notice of approval.

    How did I do it?

A welder had a head injury from a bar fight. He could not focus if concentrate or work.

I sent for a cognitive assessment and a psych evaluation. At both appointments the welder described in vivid detail how he just visualises murdering people. At the psych appointment the welder attacked the psychiatrist.

No company will hire a person who thinks about murdering his co-workers.

Maybe the SS workers were afraid to be in court with the welder.

Five years later the welder committed murder.

Generally speaking psych cases are a given for like ptsd. How much they award depends on the dr. report. Mine I applied was rejected, I appealed rejected. Their doctor did the MRI's when I appealed. I think the fact that I had a solid work history and held the second job 22 years carried a lot of weight. Meat cutters are in an industry that tear them up. I actually went to the hearing, and the lawyer explained how it works. I never was called in the judge and the occupational person seen that I can't sit stand or eve lay down before my back starts messing with me

I never got any cardiac rehab, surgeon just told me “Walk as much and as often as you can” so after exactly two months after surgery I’m just going on with my life the best I can. Still a lot of surgery pain but at least I won’t have heart attack or stroke.

Cardiac Rehab, I’ve been surprised at how much I appreciate it. Exercising while wearing an ekg is nice. They evaluate your heart rythym and rate, set and adjust your target rate for exercise, and let you know where you’re at while you work out. I’m able to work hard without pushing it too far.

Did they put a Watchman thing on you too? so you don't get a stroke, it's something relatively new they attach to the heart and stops any clot from reaching the brain or lungs. Doctor said that since they had my heart accessible they did it anyhow.

No, I didn't get any fancy hardware like that. I'm always the last kid on the block to get the new cool toys

No issues heart wise since surgery last year. Normal aches and pains now, arthritis and lower back. Taking muscle relaxers and running a TENS unit on my back as I type.
On a plus side I've lost 30+ pounds since April. Gone from 222 down to 187lɓs currently. Goal weight is 175

How did you lose all that weight? I've dropped from 238 or so to about 215 presently. My goal was to get below 200 lbs but it's like I've hit a wall. And I don't think I can eat mush less, I eat less now than my wife & most other women I know. I guess it might be that I like wine and the occasional glass of bourbon? Been exercising daily too, mostly cardio-type stuff.

As the resident youngster here (48), I have bad sinus problems. If the air is too dry, I get nosebleeds. And I need to lose about 30 pounds.

I don't. I stopped eating between meals a year ago and I know that was a big factor in my weight loss. I might eat a handful of cashews or pistachios in the evening and that's it.

Back in September I woke up one morning and had partially lost sight in my right eye. I could see shapes but no detail with a pattern imprinted that looked like a QR code overlap. I had an upcoming appointment with my eye Doc so I didn't panic and waited for it to come. The VA eye Doc said that I had bleeding in my eye which could be caused by high blood pressure or diabetes. I have neither one so far according to my VA Doc and civilian cancer Doc. I have been treated for glaucoma for several years. I do have a damaged optical nerve probably from Nam. So the VA Doc sent me to a civilian retinal specialist.

I went to the specialist and had two injections into my eye to try to clear the blood away. So a few weeks into that treatment has cleared my vision in that eye somewhat. I can see objects and color but still no details. I'll go back to the specialist in December for more eye pokes until I regain vision in that eye. That treatment will continue for a few months until the Doc decides that the damage is permanent.

BTW that first injection (lidocaine) hurt a lot for several seconds. The second injection caused me to see a black spot in that eye for a day which he said was normal. I guess that it was a hole left by the second injection and it did go away.

^ Vision issues are nothing to take lightly. I developed cataracts in both eyes about 10 years ago and had lens replacement surgery. I was wide awake for the procedure, too. You have to have your eyes open while the doc digs around, takes out the natural lenses, and replaces with acrylic ones. VERY strange feeling to say the least. For a while I had 20/20 eyesight again but the last couple of years I've lost that clear focus I had initially and might have to go back. My father had the same issue in his 60's so it's probably hereditary with me.

Might be time to get back to Parris Island SC! 😉
